May 2-8 was Children's Book Week. The Children's Book Council contracted an illustrator to create artwork for it and made the resulting artwork available to member libraries. This saved me a lot of time from having to make my own custom creation, and I was quickly able to apply the visual to (counter clockwise from left to right): 8.5x11 inch signs, quarter-page handbills, a web ad, and a website blog icon.
I love the designs you put together for Children's Book Week last year. I am working on small posters and handouts for this year's CBW, for the Kern County Library system. You mentioned in your blog that you received the artwork from ALA, but I've been all over their site and I can't find anything for CBW there. Do you know if there is any print quality artwork for this year's CBW? I rather like using parts and reassembling them to fit our libraries needs, if it is possible. Anyhow, I'm really glad I stumbled across your blog. It's full of inspiration, and it is great to see some great quality library designs.
ReplyDeleteHello and thank you for your kind comment, Carrie. Thanks to you, I discovered that I mis-credited the organization that promotes the Children's Book Week. It is not the ALA, but rather the Children’s Book Council. They offer free promotional items for the annual Children’s Book Week. Here are two direct links to their information and promotional items for this year's CBW:
